Station #1

Station #1
This and the following glass plate negative are posted for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of TRAINS OR TRAIN STATIONS.
Taking the liberty of posting two to make up for my October absence!
This first image has a train station similar to an old one in my village including the background houses and mountain although I bought this glass plate in New York state, not Vermont. (The one in our village is now used as a house.)
It's obviously damaged but I prefer this one to the rather sparse second image.

Alan Mays, Steve Bucknell, Smiley Derleth and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Some more wonderful glass plate negatives! All sorts of interesting details here. I like the "Western Union Telegraph Office" sign out front, but I can't make out the sign on this side of the station. And there's a ladder leaning against the wall next to the Western Union sign (is it freestanding or does it lead up into some sort of attic?). Parked along this side of the station is a wheeled cart with an attached ladder--or is it a ramp, or maybe steps? Looks like "NYC" (for "New York Central" railroad?) is stenciled on the handle of the cart. Very nice!

Thanks, Alan, It's always interesting to read of the things you discover - and appreciate - with your discerning eye!
I did make out the Western Union sign, but I remember being a little disappointed as I'd hoped it would be the name of the station. Don't think I was able to make out the other sign, either.
