#3 - Ruth, Stonehenge, 1972

#3 - Ruth, Stonehenge, 1972
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "A SERIES OF TWO OR MORE PHOTOS THAT TELL A STORY".
Here's #3 - Vera and Maurice's second daughter, Ruth, snapped by me on our 1972 trip back to England - when you were still allowed to wander in the stones and even sit on them to have your picture taken!

Fred Fouarge, Smiley Derleth, arts enthusiast and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

So great! Are the stones behind a fence now, or are there just signs to say "keep off?"

Ellie, It seems to have changed many times over the years, but the current info I read online was:
When Stonehenge was first opened to the public it was possible to walk among and even climb on the stones, but the stones were roped off in 1977 as a result of serious erosion. Visitors are no longer permitted to touch the stones, but are able to walk around the monument from a short distance away.
