Marie Marimon by Downey
Marie Marimon (1835-1923); French soprano. She was a pupil of the tenor Gilbert Duprez and she started her career in Paris at the Théâtre Lyrique and Opéra-Comique. After that she sang at Brussels, London and the U.S.A. In 1860 she created the role of Maïma in Offenbach's "Barkouf". She also performed at the première of Federico Ricci's opera "Une folie à Rome" in 1869. She retired from the stage in 1884.
