Old picture of the Gevangenpoort (Prisoner's Gate) in The Hague
It used to be a real gate, giving access to the Buitenhof (Exterior Court), but in the 1930s the houses which stood on the right were torn down so that cars could move freely. Now cars are not welcome anymore, but the houses will not return.
