St. Aagten Street in Leiden (NL)

St. Aagten Street in Leiden (NL)
St. Aagten is old Dutch for St. Agatha, a saint from the 3rd Century. The street is probably named after the cloister which was located here until Protestantism took control of the city in the 16th Century.
The street in front is called the New Animal Market (Nieuwe Beestenmarkt), with the "new" referring to the market, not the animals. It was used as a animal market until the 1960s.
