Bird UP! Birdhouses for 2014
| |
|
Bird UP! is a community art project in Long Beach, aimed at nurturing a more robust bird population in the city. Artists are invited to make birdhouses for display at their workshops. These are mine for 2014. On the left is "My Bird Book, Ch. 1" (about a contest I won at age 5); on the right is "BIrd is the Word." (An image of Isabella Bird is visible here.)

I stopped in for a snack and caught them packaging a bunch of potpies and stews for takeout. It smelled AMAZING.

Mystery Thrift Yarn Bag: Unopened
| |
|
My friend texted me a photo of big mystery bags of yarn at our local thriftshop. "On my way," I texted back, and picked this one because it looked like bright colors with labeled skeins.

By my count, nineteen skeins plus some balls of yarn--comes out to less than 75 cents a piece. Most of it is acrylic, but there were a few wool, and the bright orange in the right of the screen is two skeins of Italian mohair blend. Counting this as a good haul.
