No pattern, just found a bunch of sock yarn in a thriftshop and liked the colors enough to make a garment for myself.

CicLAvia, Carnival Parade

We caught the Los Angeles Carnival parade folks on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd during CicLAvia South LA today, in the King Estates neighborhood.
King Estates, palm trees converge

This is Third Ave. in King Estates, South LA. On this street, the palm trees converge and, while it's hard to see in this photo, the Hollywood sign is perfectly positioned at the vanishing point. I wouldn't have seen this except for CicLAvia South LA.
Comic, Leimert Park, CicLAvia

One of several performance stages at the Leimert Park hub for CicLAvia South LA, today. This one featured comedians while we were in the area. The comic is waving to me while I take his photo.

Spray-Stenciled Gift Bags (1)

Quick and easy, and inexpensive too. Used a dollar-store plastic placemat for the stencil, and spray paint left over from other projects, and a packet of kraft paper bags (also from the dollar store). So I have some lovely custom giftbags, for pennies a piece.

Quick and easy, and inexpensive too. Used a dollar-store plastic placemat for the stencil, and spray paint left over from other projects, and a packet of kraft paper bags (also from the dollar store). So I have some lovely custom giftbags, for pennies a piece. I did eight bags, both sides, in about five minutes.
Crocheted hat

In my post-Halloween crochet, I'm using up a lot of colorful scraps. This double-stranded hat used up a lot of random bits of cotton. Daughter immediately claimed it.

Crocheted laptop cover

Daughter asked me to make her a laptop cover in bright colors. She's pleased with the result.
Fantasy Steampunk Submarine Costume

Son's wheelchair makes a great element for vehicular costumes. Mostly recycled cardboard, duct tape, spray paint, also a salad bowl, some bamboo skewers, a lot of office supplies and bottle caps.
