Crocheted Bag
| |
|
All half-double crochet, with two colors in each stitch in body. Lined with maroon rayon from an old blouse. The button is vintage, from my great-aunt's box of buttons.

Squash Bread with Grapefruit Zest

Made today from a bunch of small summer squashes we got in the CSA box. (The grapefruit was also from the CSA box.) Very moist!
Plarn bag, detail

Made with ordinary yarns and yarn made from plastic bags. Lined with rayon cut from an old blouse--button is also from that blouse.

My trusty old black Doc Martens MJs were scuffed badly, but otherwise wonderful. Solved with an upgrade of paint, collage, and sharpies.

A new batch of "Illegal" pins
| |
|
Based on "Breathing While Undocumented," the Linda Greenhouse opinion column in the New York Times website, 4/26/2010, in which she suggests that such pins be worn to protest the new immigration laws in Arizona:
"Let the good people of Arizona--and anyone passing through--walk the streets of Tucson and Phoenix wearing buttons that say: I Could Be Illegal."

Made by me, with wooden bases, bar-pin backing, acrylic paint, sharpies, and paper collage.

Emmeline Pankhurst on a T-shirt
| |
|
Tested my freezer-paper stencil on a t-shirt (which I use for experiments, maybe you can tell from the varieties of dye in the background--it used to be a white shirt).
