I dropped my camera in the parking lot, and took this photo to be sure it still worked. Whew.

This is what California kids do in the winter: treat their boogie boards like snow saucers, on the sand bank built up to defend the town against rainy-season storms.

Son and friend on a schoolbus
| |
|
I was my son's sherpa/bodyguard on a teen group trip today. Whole bus full of teenagers. Forgot what that was like.
Added to A Month of Gratitude 11.7.10: Grateful to see my son enjoy opportunities like this. He had a grand time.
Finishing the weaving
| |
|
I taught a lesson in paper weaving to 150 volunteer docents in a workshop today (and will do the same again tomorrow). This is what one of the docent projects looked like nearing completion. This one has a lot of scrapbooking scraps, some newsprint and I think there's a menu in there too?
Added to A Month of Gratitude, 11.4.10: I'm grateful for a room full of art-teaching volunteers who were full of great ideas, and came up with creative solutions to some tricky parts of the lesson.
Beginning to weave

I taught a lesson in paper weaving to 150 volunteer docents in a workshop today (and will do the same again tomorrow). One of the schools brought a lot of bright fluorescent paper strips for their docents to play with--and some Christmas ribbon, and some old posters...
Before weaving

|
I taught a lesson in paper weaving to 150 volunteer docents in a workshop today (and will do the same again tomorrow). The prep notes encouraged schools to bring a variety of paper strips--wrapping paper, magazines, wall paper, calendars, posters, maps, menus, whatever--and they did!
Campaign Ads

Apparently we confuse the marketing whizzes who target campaign mailers. These both came in the mail on the same day. Hmmmm. Thanks for playing, and better luck next time.
