Thank Roy and tell him that I did take a landscape version as well but on comparing the two, because there's nothing of interest E or W, the square one better suited the subject.

I can't make that comparison, not having seen it myself, but this square version defocuses the attention somewhat. It needs more east and less north to create some lead-in for the eye.

I can't play around with that when it's not accessible, but I can see why you've cropped the extra fencing out. It could be improved by making an open gateway onto the lawn where that darkish block is, and then cropping north and west.
