Great Central Railway (21) - 15 July 2014

Being in the depths of the then Southern Region as a boy, I had a special fascination with the 'Peaks' and remember being thrilled when, unexpectedly, 58 'The King's Own Royal Border Regiment' came through Havant. The remainder of what I saw - before I was able to travel more widely - were at St Pancras on services from Nottingham and Sheffield. These days then, it is still a delight to see a 'Peak'. There are two on the Great Central Railway, one of which, 45041 'Royal Tank Regiment', is delightfully preserved in BR blue.
