New Year, New Beginning, New World

Yearn

The New Year represents a fresh beginning with hopes and dreams rekindled.
With an opportunity for an unblemished clean start, I yearn of a new world
free of violence, terrorism, suffering, and the scourge of war.

I yearn of a world where children can pursue their dreams and
realize their fullest potential without their lives being scarred by abuse or
snuffed out prematurely by falling bombs and senseless gun violence.

I yearn of a world where peoples everywhere can express themselves freely and be who they are, a world where there are no political prisoners and prejudice and hate are relics of the past and a world where religions spread God’s love untainted by judgment and condemnation.

I yearn of a world where the endless cycles of suffering and death are broken,
where life is cherished from conception to end, there are no more suicides and no addictions; a world where human rights are upheld in every land, animals are spared cruelty and swords are figuratively beaten into ploughshares with resources going for research, disaster relief and efforts to eradicate hunger, poverty and every form of suffering.

I yearn of a world at peace where love is the sole universal, unifying and indestructible bond of the human race.
May 2018 be the year to usher in this compassionate, kinder and loving new world!
It may be quixotic, but I still yearn this new world and always will.
