I appreciate your nuanced argument, Don. It is indeed about a joint undertaking between man and the algorithm he has set up (well, set up by other than the one using it ;).
You say: "Moreover, the person using the AI ultimately renders the final judgment as to whether the image is sufficient for his or her needs or tastes". Minimizing this person's contribution is tantamount to denigrating his earlier work, which I have admired, I agree.
You aptly point out the contradiction inherent in my criticism (and in those of others who join me). So this goes beyond the point of view from which I was speaking, to that of subjectivity.
