Part of life in Naples, the catacombs below, the living above…for a little while. Excellent black and white treatment.

Naples dances on a volcano.

Beneath the houses, fire lies sleeping. Above them stretches a sky so blue it almost seems unreal. The sun beats down on crumbling façades, washing lines, balconies, and the endless maze of narrow streets.

And beyond it all, the sea. That incredible blue, promising that everything could be easy.

But Naples knows the meaning of impermanence.

Skulls everywhere. In churches, on walls, in hidden corners. Death is no stranger to be turned away at the door. Here, death is part of the family. You encounter it on your way to the market, among flowers, images of saints, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

Perhaps that is why the people here love life so passionately. Because the ground beneath their feet has never been entirely safe.

They laugh, argue, kiss, drink their espresso, and carry on.

Vesuvius remains silent.

The sea shimmers.

And Naples dances.

**As if there were no tomorrow. And as if that were perfectly all right.**
