Swalinge
Closing on a half century of service, the Swalinge was launched in 1977. Originally built as a coaster cargo ship, it was converted to a hopper dredger by Den Herder Seaworks in 1996.
Here the Swalinge is heading south from the Port of Blyth to Teesport, though unfortunately a little too far offshore to appreciate the much more elegant appearance than some of the more modern cargo ships visiting Sunderland.
PIP #1: A closer view of the Swalinge.
