I went out to the University of Victoria to walk and have coffee, a normal day! I noticed that one of the sculptures that I thought I knew well, has an opening, so my photo, if it has a theme, is worlds within worlds. Happy World Photography Day everyone.

appo-fam, Andy Rodker, E. Adam G., Annalia S. and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

How great to get a pleasant surprise on an every day walk. Your photo for World Photography Day not only is a world within a world, but feels like a door within a door to me. I'm happy to see more than one b&w photo for the event. And the white in the middle of this you've kept sell enough for us to see the details. Your photo is a delight of composition.

I'm now curious what the full sculpture looks like and is about. Did it make you smile when you found this?

I really appreciate your comments, thank you! The sculptor is Elza Mayhew. She was chosen to represent Canada at the 1964 Venice Biennale, at Expo 67 in Montreal and at Expo 86 in Vancouver. Many of her works echo totemic poles, Mayan stelae, and Egyptian stone sculpture.
