Lion Yawn
Taken during our 2018 safari in South Africa. We got to see a number of lion groups in the Kruger National Park area.
This was taken with the Panasonic GX85 with a 200-400 telephoto, and then cropped with GIMP.

Sunset Through Tree, South Africa
We stayed out during our safari, until it got dark (more animals around then).
While waiting for the sunset, I got this shot through a tree. In my mind, this is a "typical" view of the African veldt.

Baobab Tree, Senegal
Baobab tree at Bandia Nature Reserve, Senegal.
While most of our tour of this area was for the various animals, these trees really impressed. The trunk can store a lot of water, something that is needed in the dry savannah.

Elephant Feeding
Taking during our safari in 2018.
This older female was shaking a tree to get the tasty nuts to fall. Here she is picking them up and enjoying them.

Elephant Challenge
Taking during our safari in 2018.
This was a frame of a video I took as this young male challenged us. We sat in our open-sided vehicle, taking pictures and waiting see what he would do.
He is giving us a real big sniff, trying to figure out if we are a female (he would then try to mate), or another male (he would then fight us).
Eventually, these young males walked off, showing us their "equipment" (not in this photo!)
