In meiner Kindheit war es üblich, dass 4 bis 8 Personen in einer Wohnung lebten. Heute gibt es viele Single- und Kleinhaushalte. Bei gleicher Bevölkerung brauchen wir viel mehr Wohnungen. Wer soll sie bauen und bezahlen?

Es ist die gleiche Situation wie bei uns. Deshalb wird möglichst billig gebaut, und entsprechend sieht die Architektur aus. Wenn dort nur Sozialhilfeempfänger wohnen sollen, ist dies der nächste Slum.

I agree with Roger.First problem is everywhere concrete now! No field,no air ,no sky .... (Big high buildings cities)
That's capitalist system! Everything for money!

I do agree that developments like this are often built without the necessary infrastructure in place , causing many problems further down the line. Sadly though there are many of use who would like to be able to afford a house, no matter how small. Housing is a real issue, especially in today's ecomonic climate. Yes it would be lovely to have quality homes, but unfortunately quality is a luxury that many cannot afford. It remains to be seen if you are right about them being the slums of the future. It mainly depends on the people who live there!! II hope they look nicer when they are finished Peter. Well captured. HWW

You have hot the nail on the head about the "people who live there".
Unfortunately when you get a whole estate of like minded people, all of whom sponge of social security, and spend all day doing drugs, no one else has any motivation to keep the area decent.
The 'Neighbourhood Plan' states the the social (AKA 'Affordable') houses should not be in continuous blocks, but separated into a few here and there dotted around the place.

Oh I do understand Peter. We lived in an area like that previously and the tenants made life impossible for other residents. The local authority was to blame as they moved troublesome tenants in who had been moved because they caused trouble elsewhere!! Of cours this lowered the standards and caused trouble. We were lucky as we sold up and moved ourselves but the council's answer to the tenants who were suffering so badly was to move them out and not the troublemakers! They even purchased carpets for some of the problem tenants to try to deaden the noise they were making!!!

Oh, here we've been having them since the 1980ies...and I live in one!! It's so hard to find affordable apartments in Germany these days...

The problem is that they fill them with low class trouble makers.... Then a whole street of troublemakers together..!!!

Well, there seem to be more and more low class trouble makers in the world, so chances are you'd encounter them in any neighborhood... Or perhaps there have always been and I just didn't know because I didn't live back then...and won't live a couple of hundred years into the future to see how things will be developing.
