You remember well. We had started at Nant Gwynant ( www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/43745626 ) and walked up past the waterfall to the old slate quarry..... But we had other things to do later in the day.
Love Peter

Glad you like it. Your recent visit prompted me to to do it...!!!!
The track which is plainly visible is the Miners track, while the Pyg track is above it, and visible around 2/5ths of the way up the left hand side of the picture.
These days parking at Pen-Y-Pass is very limited (you must have noticed lots of yellow paint on the road!), so unless you are there at six o clock in the morning you will end up parking on the road to Nant Gwynant! (same place you stopped at for the viewpoint). Hence the suggestion of Watkin path..
Best Wishes,
Peter"

I am pleased you found it interesting.
If you are able to come back (after lockdown is over!!!) I would strongly recommend the Watkin path from Nant Gwynant, and spend all day doing it. You get the waterfall, old mine ruins, and this view!!
Best Wishes,
Peter

For right or for wrong, the cafe is a private business who want to sell food, and ensure their customers have enough space to eat it. I have been there on wet days too, and it is impossible to move at times, as nobody wants to stand outside!!
Best Wishes, and a great weekend!
