Hello Peter an interesting shot indeed and one most certainly liked by me .. Any other info to hand of Aircraft type or crash report ?

this looks a little like whats left of a Daimler-Benz DB 603 perhaps ?

Hi Steve,

Thank you so much for your interest here. Obviously your mechanical knowledge of German machinery covers not only BMW, but Daimler-Benz too!
Fortunately, in this case, I had a photo of the information sheet too. It is a Daimler-Benz DB 603A, which came from a Dornier Do217m shot down during an attempted attack of London on the night of 21-22 January 1944. The rest of the aircraft was "smashed beyond recognition".
A search of the museum web site did not come up with it.

So, if you have the workshop manual for it collecting dust at the back of your shed, and fancy rebuilding it..... Well, perhaps not in this case!

Hello Peter interesting indeed and thank you for the added info on this shot .. .. i have also found this report about the possible excavation of this aircraft though it mentions the engines as being DB 605's
