Well it's about 10 minutes longer than the most direct route but it's less 'up and down', which is important especially when I've got a full shopping trolley! Mind you this route is also uphill non-stop on the way back - just not as steep and, yes, there's this view!

Yes, it's all really a bit odd but I think it can be explained by the fact that most (not all) Spaniards love living and inter-acting cheek-by-jowl and love living in tenement blocks! It means they don't usually have sprawling suburbs! So the countryside starts straight away outside town / city boundaries.

Thank you, Eva. It takes me about 25 minutes downhill into the town and about double that on the way back up with a trolley full of shopping - but it's all good exercise. Not every day of course! And I always stop at my favourite café for a refreshing drink (and use of their facilities - an enlarged prostate necessitates this stop off!)

I'd have to buy around 3 or 4 tonnes of food, so I would have enough to eat to get back home!
