Good point, Jenny, a bit of both I'd say. The window is natural but a few slabs were placed on the other side to create steps where a 'take a deep breath and pray' jump had been required before. In my first year here, I did the former and had to jump every time. Now it is a leasurely stroll!

Some amazing textures in these rocks...............the rusty coloured one is particularly nice. You could be forgiven thinking that those verticle "stripes" were man-made!

I thought it might have been a legacy of quarrying activity but I just can't really see it, Keith. This area was under ice in the ice Age and it might have been gouged by rocks embedded in a moving ice sheet. Or ... or .....
