Mum's garden, different POV. For Pam.
Garden in Saint Day, Cornwall.
Having just trimmed the ceanothus, the chapel roof was visible for the first time in ages so I took a shot. The cotoneaster on top of the wall was next on the agenda for a haircut!.

Andy Rodker club has replied to Pam J clubTHE COTONEASTA ON TOP OF THE WHITE WALL GREW FROM A PIP THAT GOT STUCK IN A CRACK AT THE TOP. EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS I TRIM IT BACK HARD SO THAT THE WALL AND CROPPED BUSH LOOKS LIKE WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR WITH HIS SEVERE NORMAN SHORT BACK AND SIDES. SO THE PLANT IS KNOWN AS WILLIE THE CONQ., AND EVERY SO OFTEN I WILL TELL MY MUM THAT IT'S TIME FOR WILLIE'S HAIRCUT!
I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A SHOT THE NEXT DAY TO ILLUSTRATE THE POINT BUT IT STARTED RAINING HARD AFTER MY TRAVAILS WITH THE SECATEUR (AND COTONEASTER WOOD IS TOUGH!), SO I DIDN'T BOTHER.

Keith,
Very many thanks to you all!
As I couldn't go this year, I presume my Spanish brother-in-law did the heavy gardening honours! My sister and her family travel from Spain to holliday in Cornwall every year and stay with parents / grandparents etc. I often travel with them and on a couple of occasions my girlfriend has been able to come too!
