Between Algete and Fuente el Saz de Jarama. 20 minutes drive away from the centre of Madrid! Unimaginable in London, but here everyone lives in flats and so the countryside starts very suddenly and close!

On the horizon, the Sierra de Guadarrama (central section) and on the right the miniature but perfectly formed Sierra de La Cabrera.

Wow this area is beautifully mountainous. Do you ever walk around the Sierra de Guadarrama?

Thank you, Jenny.
It's confusing but all the mountain areas I walk in: The Sierra de La Cabrera, La Sierra de Pedriza and Las Machotas. are mini mountain ranges in the main range which is The Sierra de Giadarrama. So yes; all the time! The whole mountain chain to the north of Madrid is La Sierra de Guadarrama.
When I first came to Madrid to teach, I had a car for my first year and was able to walk in the other areas of the Sierra de Guadarrama, but I didn't have a camera, nor a smart phone nor even a camera-phone. Much to my regret now!. Since then I've had the means to take photos but have had to rely on buses and bus timetables and thi severely restricts my range; I need to be able to judge the times of my walks carefully in order to catch the last bus back to Madrid! The places I go to and the walks I do there fit my timetable perfectly!
Sorry. That was the long answer!!!
The short answer is "Yes"!!!
