Lonesome tree
A solitary juniper tree (Juniperus comunis, thank you Isabel!) and one of my favourite trees. This is on one of my more regular approaches to the ridge and so I greet it like an old friend. Surrounded by lavender and so I suppose the terrain should be called 'cantueso'.

You wanted to know more about the namesake of the lake we stayed near at The Cove Palisades...here's your answer, along with a link! :D
Named after Billy Chinook, a Native American of the Wasco tribe who traveled with explorers John C. Frémont and Kit Carson in their 1843-4 iexpeditions.
Andy Rodker club has replied to Janet Brien clubAffinity with trees; yes I go along with your sentiment, if doubtful about the "science". But I talk to trees a lot and get vibes in return, sometimes along the lines of "oh for goodness sake go away and leave me alone" but occasionally more positive! :o)
Andy Rodker club has replied to Jenny McIntyre clubMany thanks!
