Plaza de Colón, Madrid

Everywhere here in Madrid looks beautifully clean and tidy.

I suppose so, Jenny. This is in the central touristy bit and is swept, scrubbed and polished every day. That was also the case in the suburbs when I first came to Spain and I noted the civic pride with deep respect. But budget cuts have meant that places such as this get spruced up on a daily basis, other areas have been left to go to the dogs.
