Yes, I see just a sliver of water in the distance if I enlarge the photo. I'll assume it is the English Channel as you say. Must be about 10 km, according to the map. In between there is a lot of beauty.

You are quite right, Ron. From a slightly higher position you can just about see Falmouth Docks but the foreground isn't as interesting!

I am astonished at my error. I've been familiar with both plants all my life!
I can only put it down to not having done any gardening at all for 10 years and pulling the wrong name out of my memory banks!
I do miss gardening so much!

Andy.. these days I am lucky to know what year I am in !!! Garden.. I loved it so much.. I had my own little gardening business for 10 years. Here.... I have 2 acres and its reclaimed woodland really.. wild and nice in its way.. but not the garden I sooooooo wanted. I can never have that. That is hard at times. the slog is there without the reward. The gophers eat everything cept the native wild flowers(least they bring butterflies) . My precious Snowdrops are nearly all gone.. I have given up planting anything.. tween the gophers and the drought.. So.. I do understand !

At least I don't waste any energy in tending a non-existent garden! I just wish I had taken photos of my gardens but for nearly 30 years I didn't take a single photo!!

Beautiful ! Although I have mixed feelings about rosebay willowherb. It's an lovely elegant plant but it does spread into huge colonies and smothers other wild flowers in the process.

Like montbretia, it can be a bit of a thug but it's tolerable I suppose in a place like this as long as it doesn't dominate totally, to the detriment of native species and wildlife.
