In weather like this no ship would go to ground:-) A stormy night would be quite a different matter....

Andy Rodker club has replied to Gudrun club
Exactly, and even if you did somehow make it safely onto land (extremely unlikely), there would be no way of scaling the cliff. Hell indeed!

More like 1,000s over the centuries, Rosa! Legend says that quite a few of the Spanish Armada ships came to grief here.

can you give a sense of scale - how high are the cliffs?

The rocks even seem to be leaning out into the sea looking for new victims....

Even on a benign day, it's easy to see how a bit of wind could whip those waves into a frenzy! It looks deceptively beautiful and relatively calm in this shot though.

Wow! Andy, lovely Blue and Green here, and great framing, but more interesting is the info about this section of the shoreline, with the fate of many ships !! Greetings to you, Sarah YS

Looks so inviting with the sun shining but you can't trust the sea. At least the rocks are a warning. The Tay estuary has no rocks or cliffs but is littered with wrecks. It's the sandbars......

Andy Rodker club has replied to Jean
No warning at night or, as is very often the case, in thick fog - and sometimes both!
