Allgemein kann man Steinmännchen als Schutzsymbole verstehen. In Skandinavien wurden die kleinen Türme beispielsweise errichtet, um Wanderer vor Trollen zu schützen, die ihnen Böses wollten. Dem Brauch nach legen Wanderer auf ihrem Weg noch weitere Steine auf bereits bestehende Türme, um den Schutz zu erhöhen :)
