Camelia
Camelia. Originaria de las regiones tropicales y subtropicales de Asia sudoriental, China y Japón. Se las encuentra en los bosques situados a media altura sobre el nivel del mar. Un botánico y misionero jesuita del s.XVII, Georg Josephus Kamel (también conocido por Camellus) las describió y dibujó después de un viaje a Filipinas a bordo de un galeón español, luego Carlos Linneo nombró a este género en su honor.
