The cathedral is notable architecturally for its gothic west front in the Early English style, considered one of the best of its type, as well as the Geometric east window.

Ville de 16.000 habitants, Ripon est une destination touristique appréciée. Elle est très proche de 'Fountains Abbey', inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO ... et aussi du parc de 'Studley Royal' qui lui est adjacent.
