When it comes to epistemic contextualism, I must say that I am a complete dummy. So, no comments on that.
What I meant is so called "contextual photography", somewhat related to contextual architecture. Except in case of photography it would work the other way round. A photograph would then acknowledge and embrace the subjects within their surroundings. Show not only the main subject, but also the context.
And then a shallow depth of field is one great way to make clear what the main subject is.
Colors and shapes in the background can then serve the subject, showing for example cultural contexts like the shape and colors of the buildings. They give a clue on where the main subject is located.
