They Didn't Bring Enough Water
This bit of humor was at the start of the Hellhole Canyon trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It says "They Didn't Bring Enough Water," an essential for hiking in the desert.
Hellhole Canyon
These California Fan Palms were photographed in Hellhole Canyon in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. We were hiking to Maidenhair Falls when the photo was taken.
Dinosaurs
These are more of the Sky Art Sculptures in the desert around the town of Borrego Spins, California. The two here are supposed to be an Allosaurus and a Carnotaurus.
The Slot
Another photo of The Slot from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in southern California - hiked by my wife and I this past January.
Fossil Dry Falls
We were recently in southern California for a conference and on our way there we had some extra time and stopped at a state park, Fossil Dry Falls, a volcanic area through which a river with a waterfall once rain. The photo shows the old river bed and the water worn rocks just above what was once a waterfall. The Sierra Nevada is in the background.
Lone Pine Peak
I believe this is Lone Pine Peak in the Sierra Nevada of southern California. The photo was taken near the town of Independence, California, as we traveled south for a conference.
Fossil Dry Falls
This is another photo of Fossil Falls, a dry falls in a volcanic area east of the Sierra Nevada which is visible in the background.
Sierra Nevada
This panorama of the Sierra Nevada was taken near Independence, California. It is one of the few photos of our recent trip to southern California taken with my phone.
Sequoia
From the archives a Sequoia growing around a huge boulder.
