Snowberries and Snow

These Snowberries are living up to their name with their covering of snow. The berries of this native shrub persist well into the winter and we often find them covered with snow and ice.

Frosted Fence

Taken on a morning of freezing fog, this barbed wire was loosely coiled around an old fence post and caught my eye as I was driving past. After turning around and stopping along the road, I was able to get some photos as well as a shoe full of snow.

Frosted Fence

This frosted barbed wire was the result of a night of freezing fog. I noticed the wire coiled around the old fence post and stopped the car for photos.

Frosty Fence

We had freezing fog and heavy hoarfrost the morning this was taken. I had noticed this from the car, turned around and stopped along the road for photos.

Frosted Fence

I was out in the car on a very frosty and foggy morning several weeks ago and saw this fence post with the barbed wire wrapped around it so I turned around at the next crossroad and went back to get photos.

Snow

The last few days have brought us a lot of snow, a total of around thirty inches (76 cm). That has not kept us from our daily walks and on one snowy morning my wife noticed these Alder leaves holding some snow and we took turns photographing them.

Hoarfrost

We've had several mornings of freezing fog the last few weeks and it has produced some amazing opportunities for photos. These leaves edged with hoarfrost were photographed on one of those mornings.

Frost

Nearly every day my wife and I walk a two-mile loop near our house and almost always have our cameras along. This frosted leaf with the morning sun behind it caught our attention on one of those walks.

Ice

This was taken after a recent ice storm. The ice was not heavy enough to do a lot of damage but it did provide plenty of photo opportunities. The leaves, if I am not mistaken, are the leaves of the Red Alder.
