View from Skeleton Point

While in Grand Canyon National Park last month we twice hiked down into the canyon, though not all the way to the river. One of those hikes took us down the South Kaibab trail to Skeleton Point. I could not find an explanation of the name, but this is the view from where we ended our hike, three miles (5 km) and two thousand feet (610 m) down into the canyon.

On another note, we will be away today and tonight and so I will not be returning comments until tomorrow morning. We have a short trip to western Washington for a graduation.
