First...totally delighted that you went through my Dragonfly/Damselfly pictures, that's just so nice! I don't have a LOT of good pictures but I'm very pleased that I have plenty to be happy about! I'd just like...MORE! :D Especially would love more species, confound it all! :D Oh, that's interesting...there are only 15 different species in our states! I figured there would be more! Still...I Want Them All! :D

You remind me of a special sight Steve and I had when we rented a boat on Diamond Lake a few months back. We went across the lake to the other side and docked because I needed to use the bathroom. Upon hopping out, I was shocked to see literally HUNDREDS of pairs of mating damselflies! They were EVERYWHERE! Totally crazy numbers of them. And...not a picture of them between us. I was thinking that there's really no way to capture the phenomenon. They were all over the place, in the air, on the ground, where ever, but they were far enough apart that you couldn't take a picture to show the masses of them. And if you backed up enough to show many pairs, they were too small to really see. I thought at the time that this special event was just something we'd have to see and enjoy and to try to remember because it was just for us.

Steve came up with that one..."just for me"...he used to take underwater pictures with a film camera and eventually he'd run out of film. Invariably he'd find something totally amazing just after he ran out. At first it infuriated him. But eventually he realized that instead of getting angry, he should just relax and soak up the sight as completely as he could. Recognize that it is something just for his eyes and his own private experience. He said the same thing to me when I would get all pissed off because I didn't have a camera and the Warner's Brother Frog was doing the Can-Can in front of me...his words hit home immediately and since then, I may pine a bit over not having a picture, but not much. It's just for me. So, I'll never be able to share the pictures of the hundreds of damselfly pairs but I'll never forget that wondrous sight either! :)

Oh, and your remark about these guys being flighty...heh...omg...them and butterflies make me totally coo-coo with their penchant for blowing raspberries as they zoom away laughing! The stinkers! I just cannot believe the luck of some people...their streams are filled with pictures of dragon/damselflies! Also, it has to do with where you live and if there are lots of them around. Some folks are set up that way so it's easier.

Ron, I was so happy that the shakshuka turned out so delicious and perfect--it's rare that I just do something like that and the timing was just right. Re: chorizo being expensive...is it? I never noticed... We love Johnsonville's offering and try not to be without it. I use it for my "egg things", which are a made-up recipe that makes a square glass pan full of a sort crustless quiche that has 10 eggs/pkg of chorizo/half an onion. I do, however, mix in about a cup of something called "Carb Quick" which is a low-carb Bisquick alternative that's fabulous. Oh, and a cup of shredded Mexican-blend cheese, and then, before I put it in the oven for 40-45 minutes I top it with more cheese! It makes 12 squares of yumminess that I eat for breakfast!

Your dinner sounds lovely...I cannot eat root veggies now (they are Satan's spawn for carbs, there's nothing worse except sugar than potatoes and the ilk but aren't they yummy! Believe it or not, I don't miss them at all though. Of all things, using cauliflower as a substitute works incredibly well. Most especially "fauxtato salad", which is FAR BETTER than normal potato salad by a long stretch.

I do get your issues with keeping well-fed. Low carb is NOT for everyone, and you're one of them. If I even give a sideway's glance at carbs and sugars, I'll gain weight! Heh.

LOL I BET Nancy wouldn't appreciate me rearranging her lawn! :D :D Fun to tease though! :)

Seems like it got cold awfully fast this year, I hope the roads are clear and safe for your drive. :)

And finally, re: seeds...yeah, they are SO PARTICULAR. I'm not surprised you sent your orchid seeds away to be vialed, but even still...that you got success, it's amazing! Oh, how annoying orchids can be unless you have a dedicated environment for them. I doubt I'll ever bother, but if I did get back into orchids, I'd certainly have a tiny greenhouse for them that I've seen. But I don't know...they are such temperamental beauties! I adore them though.
