Virginia Bluebells
When we visited Aman Park in Michigan the Virgina Bluebells were just beginning to bloom. We would have loved to see them in full bloom since the forest floor was carpeted with plants and buds but time did not permit.

Happy Sunday and a great new week, Ron!

Thank you so much for your amazing letters in your comments, they are just the BESTEST! :) I haven't been able to comment in return until now, my it's been busy and fun on our travels! Right now I'm in my cozy nest, and the SUN IS OUT!! We're in Harbor, Oregon, really it's Brookings, and the Azalea Festival is happening all weekend and through tomorrow as well! WHAT LUCK! A classic car show, art show, arts and crafts vendors, bbq, parade, all-day classic car cruise, we're going to have a lovely time!!! YAY!!
I'm so glad you're enjoying my trip notes! It's so cool that I am interesting enough that people are actually reading! That's super cool. The days fly by and writing about the daily events is so important if I have any hope of keeping track of what happened, and it's fun too. :)
Oh brother, too bad about the wasted time calibrating your lenses, ugh! Oh well! The wide-angle macros really are neat. Basically it's taking a picture as close to the subject as you can and then in post you crop in tight with the background as a gorgeous bokeh. Hopefully Steve will post at some point so you can see! :)
I adored reading about the school events...such a fun thing for you to be involved in and to enjoy and be proud of. I would have loved to hear the periodic tables in song! :D My father, I think, hoped for something like that but it never came to pass...only one of his 4 kids became a parent and then they were in Germany for many years. Then when they moved here, the wonderful situations that you write of just weren't like that for my brother's family. I think that bummed my dad out a lot but well, you can't force your kids to do as you dreamed--though he certainly did try to convince me that kids were extremely important for me to have for him to enjoy...*sigh*...I am happy that at the end my dad let me off the hook and said it was ok that I chose not to have kids and that everyone should have the right to have kids or not. A big weight off my shoulders, but it's only too bad that he didn't figure that out when I first made that decision as a 20-yr-old. :P
Grats on the boat! Sounds like a winner, and I hope you got to take it out for the kitlings! :) Nice that there's a lake to use it in right there, how convenient. Good times for all, and gl on catching fishies for chow, that will be wonderful. Steve has always been set against fishing but I'm happy to see that he's starting to think about the idea and we'll eventually probably do our own fishing for trout and bass, catfish too...I used to be an award-winning fisher chick as a kiddo...our summer cabin area had fishing contests every year and I'd win first place in many categories...most bluegill, biggest bluegill, biggest catfish, most catfish, sometimes others. It was fun! My mom loved cooking up the fishies. I'll learn to scale and gut the fish, it's not a fun task but having our own fish will be delicious. We adore fish and love visiting them in the ocean, but at the same time they are not intellectual enough to feel terribly sad about if we were to fish some up for our feasties. So...down the road I am looking forward to our own fish feasts, NOM! :)
Great to read about the violets...lolol...I didn't know that "Yellow Violets" come in other colors, isn't the just silly?! :D Thanks for the compliments on those two pictures, they were taken with my old point and shoot...amazed that I considered throwing away ALL of my pictures taken with that camera when I moved up to my Mark II. Silly girl. LOL, I'm so glad I've embraced the truth that it's the person behind the camera, not the camera itself, which should be the judge of a quality picture. :) And even if it's not technically perfect, nobody cares!! :)
Hey, thanks for the suggestion on the flower I got a picture of...I looked up Buckbean and the Fringed Grass of Parnassus and no...that's not them, but I'll post pictures when I get home and you'll go, "OH IT'S X!" LOL! :)
Thanks for your insights about my canoe query. I appreciate what you had to say and agree. My whole thing is how much use we'd get vs the expense. Like you, we'd only get one if we found a good deal, but I still don't know. Steve thinks we can just put a rack on the RV and keep it there, which would certainly work nicely. It would be a fun thing to have but we'll have to just wait and see. Thanks so much for your side of things! :)
Re: relationship issues: I loved reading your views on keeping your promises. I told Steve what you said and we talked about stuff a lot. We have plenty to work on from both sides, but we are resolute about it, and every little step forward is super. It's been nearly 20 years of building up bad issues swept under the rug so much needs to be broken down before it can be dealt with but bit by bit it's slowly happening. Some days can be very hard...like, is it even worth going through this SAME thing AGAIN? You are right about crow being a good dish sometimes. Funny thing is that even though I didn't think I was doing it, I WAS blaming Steve for the vast majority of our problems. It is pretty amazing to see though, that I have been the base for the reason Steve gets so upset. So...I am working on paying attention to the things I do, my behavior and so forth, which are the instigators for many issues. As well, Steve is working on his issues. We can both see why so many people just give up because it's really, really hard but every bit of progress feels great! After so many years of building up, of course it will be a lot of work but the reward of getting slowly through the muck is priceless and makes us both better people with a better understanding of ourselves and the world too. :)
Ok, it's time to get ready for a late breakfast and then...ADVENTURES! HOORAY!! Have a great day, Ron, you'll be on my mind! :)
Bonne Semaine.
