"Australia Burns"

"Australia Burns"
"Australia burns!" That was what one of the men who were setting these controlled burns said when we asked about the fires. Taken along the Davies Creek Road in Dinden National Park, this is one of my wife's photos.

Impressive. Here the fires started yesterday, 140 firemen and 40 trucks and 3 planes in impossible rocky places. Every year. It is a pity.

A good shot of a "controlled burn", Ron. To all those concerned about this being done, it is far less destructive than a wildfire. These fires are lit in conditions which allow them to be kept slow-moving and under control, while removing the dangerous build up of flammable litter under the eucalypt forests.
