Zygonaria Adelaide Meadows
In Explore December 27, 2011, #461.
This plant is a hybrid between two related genera, Zygopetalum and Neogardneria. The actual cross is Zygopetalum Titanic with Zygonaria Dynamo. The plant is much larger than anything I grow and this particular flower was photographed at the Mount Baker Orchid Society Show last spring. I would hope also that it demonstrates that not every orchid photo I take has a black background.
I should add that when taking pictures at shows, a lot of the pictures have to be taken with the camera hand-held, thus the lack of depth-of-field in this photo. The fact that this was taken at a show also is the reason why I am not completely sure of the identification. Sometimes the id's get mixed up in the process of sorting the pictures, though I do take pictures of the tag with the flowers.
