Das Foto zeigt die Skulptur eines Elefanten im sächsischen Ort Kühren.
Warum steht der Elefant dort ?
1888 ließen Kaufleute aus der benachbarten Stadt Wurzen anlässlich eines Sommerfestes einen Ballon in Form eines Elefanten steigen. Als der Spiritus zur Neige ging, landete der Ballon unfreiwillig auf einer Wiese in der Nähe von Kühren. Plötzlich stand dort ein Elefant.
Ein Bauer soll sogar auf ihn geschossen haben.
1976 wurde zur Erinnerung an dieses Ereignis eine Elefantenskulptur in der Ortsmitte von Kühren aufgestellt.
