Schloss Oranienbaum wurde zunächst ab 1681 bis 1685 als Sommersitz für Fürstin Henriette Catharina, geborene Prinzessin von Oranien-Nassau erbaut.
Ab 1780 erfolgte eine Umgestaltung.
Schloss Oranienbaum ist eines von vier nach dem Hause Oranien benannten Schlössern, so dass auch eine Verbindung zum niederländischen Königshaus besteht.

Was für eine herrliche Schlossanlage, lieber Percy! Ich habe sie mir auch noch in Wikipedia angeschaut. Es ist im Vergleich zu anderen Schlössern ein "bescheidenes" , aber architektonisch sehr harmonisches Schloss. Ob dem rechten Flügel auch noch die Farbe der Oranier gegönnt wird ;-)???
