"Mrs. McComb was a 1916 homestead arrival in Malin with her husband, John. She became librarian and recieved the first wage, supplied by the infant chamber of commerce, the city council and the Helping Hand Society, a women's group. Her pay was 95 cents per day for two hours, one of two days the library was kept open each week. The second day's work was donated for the good of the community. (Klamath Echoes Malin Issue 1970)" Source: www.findagrave.com/memorial/24048346/teresa-f-mccomb Mrs. McComb and her cat. Is that a safe on the right?

The McCombs moved to Oregon from Iowa. He became a homestead farmer upon his arrival in Oregon in 1916. He was appointed Postmaster of Malin, Oregon, in 1924, only one year before his death of cancer. His wife lived another 45 years after his death. Arminta and William Barks

03 Apr 2020 11 7 347
Arminta came west from Missouri and married William Barks in California. Her obituary says: "...[Mrs. Barks] died a consistent christian. She suffered greatly the last three years of her life of cancer, of which she died. The funeral service was held at the Mt. Laki church November 8th. The church was filled by those desiring to pay a last respect to one who, with her husband, has so lived as to command the respect and high esteem of their many friends and acquaintances in a business as well as in a social way." Strangely, I could find no information about William except that he was born in Missouri. The couple had two sons.
