For the first time in my life, I finally got to see northern lights! I am so excited! These are all taken at my son's house, where there is no light pollution. From my apartment, it was impossible. I live in town, so there are bright lights everywhere and only the faintest pale purple was visible. In these out-of-town photos, the light is brighter and pink more saturated than in reality.

Where I grew up in Sydney, approx 34 deg south I've seen, when a kid, the red glow when places further south have seen the waving colours that you did. I live at 27 deg south which is too far north. The auroras are mostly seen in the north and south polar regions. Sometimes the sun gets a bit 'angry' and sends out more magnetic fields the auroras are seen further from the polar regions.
