No worries here, I took one little bite and spit it out. Tastes horrible. Edible only when cooked, as you note, though I don't know why anyone would bother these days. I think rowan berry jam was a only homestead woman's specialty - along with buffalo berry and chokecherry jams! Birds love them and seem to survive them - hence the dark red splats all over my car every fall!
