Maybe a 1940 Oldsmobile 60 Series

Maybe a 1940 Oldsmobile 60 Series
Thank you for your Oldsmobile vote, Berny! 1971 Dodge suggested a 1941 Pontiac. We're all unable to make a definitive ID, though.

Nora Caracci, kiiti, Berny and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

I'm sure you're right but it also looks a lot like a car my dad had in the 60s!

He was obviously a man of vintage tastes! ;-)
Thank you for the star, ANdy!

It was a late 50s, early 60s model. A common design shape at the time! (At least we avoided the Edsel kind of excesses!)

Ah...I'm picturing a Morris Minor. That's when ours started becoming maximum gas-guzzling machines.

No, the Rover series (60, 90 and 110) - there were in-between ones but my dad only had these three (not all at the same time I hasten to add!).

Diana, I think it's a 1940 Oldmobile 60 Series Club Coupe. Pretty (very) sure ;-)

Many details can be seen, which make this 100%.

It is definitely pre WWII late 1930s early 1940s style.
I don't think it is an Oldsmobile, mainly because of the 3 lines on the lower fenders.
The closest I could find was 1941 Pontiac but still too many differences to call it (like the fuel cap/door and trim position).

Perhaps it is a Canadian built Pontiac model but the only ones I've seen have the fuel cap on the other side.
Still a mystery to me. I'll keep checking back if you get a shot of the front end. ; )

Thanks for all of your ideas and research, I had such a hard time trying to match with a Chevy - I was just sure that's what it was. I'm uncertain about Olds, but it seemed closer than a Chevy. It doesn't help that this is positioned backwards and most photos show the front.

The rear bumper, the filler neck position, the rear window, the form of the side windows, the position of the rear lights and the 4 holes in the centre are correct for the Oldsmobile. But some other details not, you're right.
