Rabbit brush with its fall fluff

Rabbit brush with its fall fluff
Rabbit brush looks similar to sage brush, but is more herbaceous and less woody than sage brush. The flowers are dandelion yellow, but the best show is the fluffy seed pods. I didn't think much about the name until I was walking around a field of it. I noticed little rabbits huddled underneath. Like sage brush, it's extremely drought tolerant.

And--ah, CHOO!--it's an allergen right up there with ragweed. I'm on loratadine (Claritin) every fall! We have lots of it around here--some in our yard, in fact.

Ha! Right. I know I'm a victim of ragweed, not sure about rabbit brush. My drug of choice is generic Zurtek. ;-\
