Christmas gift from my granddaughter. This flavor combination is unique and delicious. I don't even like dark chocolate very much on its own, but this and the Sea Buckthorn are superb.

I checked out the ingredients, and looks like there is indeed "salmiakki" aka ammonium chloride in it:

(P.S. That is insanely expensive on that web site! =O )

Yet another informative video! =D

So, if you liked it, then you probably have some Scandinavian genes!

Ammonium chloride! That video is hilarious, I loved it. I have heard of Finnish salted licorice before now, it is quite notorious. The salted, preserved plums in China and Japan have a similar reputation. I don't think I'd like it by itself. I used to watch a Youtube channel about customs and travel in Finland, presented by two guys in a really amusing way. Of course, one topic was salted licorice. I can't find the channel...

There used to be a tiny licorice candy here that was so horrible-tasting that kids would dare each other to eat a whole package at once. I don't think it was salted, though. It was supposed to be a "breath freshener!" www.oldtimecandy.com/pages/sen-sen

Yikes, VERY expensive! At a store here it is only $2.00 each!

I start to believe that it must be an error... =,D

EDIT: Oh, it was per kilo! "€51.67 /kg"

Sen sen seemed to be a licorice and anise "candy":

And yes, that is another strong taste combination!

€ 58,90 are for 12 pieces, so it's expensive, but not so extreme!

I didn't know it had anise. Actually, the two flavors are similar. They must have had only a trace amount of sugar. A delicious 1880s licorice gum is Black Jack. Discontinued in stores a long time ago, but it's sold online. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a2/Black_jacks_gum2.jpg

Then, there's licorice ice cream - divine, but very hard to find!

American manufacturer's chocolate wrapping paper design is very fashionable. (Sometimes I write a love letter)

Japanese manufacturers are always personal imports because they are unsavory and cannot be eaten.

American chocolate is mostly terrible, don't eat Hershey bars! However, candy bars with other things with the chocolate are good - like Milky Way or Snickers. The chocolate in these photos is from Finland. It was delicious.
