Very common here for drive-up mailboxes--the idea is you can put in the letters out the car window without getting out of the car.

As long as you don't get them mixed up with the rubbish bins :-))

Well, everyone here knows the difference, they're the same design and color across the country.* But people from other countries might mistake them for recycling or trash cans!

*I forgot about the big army-green ones that the postal workers store large quantities of mail they've collected from residential mailboxes. Those are emptied later, or something. I'm not quite sure how that works.

Thanks, Keith! The bottom is an ordinary shape, but the funnel thing is weird, I agree! The other type has a pull-down cover, or lid, that's flush with the bind. That's the "walk-up" kind. Thanks, Keith!

We have them everywhere here !

We don't have enough! There used to be several in every neighborhood. I guess a lot of them went the way of phone booths.

I must admit I've never seen mail boxes like this.
