I adore it!!!
what years does it goes back.? In what kind of building did you find it ?..lot of questions !! :-)
There is a cinema here in Padua, built in the forties, that went on working until 200!!! luxurious, I dare say, with magnificent floors and ceilings similar to this one .. and even Deco style chandeliers , red velvet armchairs, etc.etc etc.
Now clearly is definitely closed and barred: I would have liked to take some pictures inside before its total destruction! ... I even asked for..but .. no way !! Of course!!

Have a lovely weekend Diane!

I am very late to your comment, Bea! This was the entrance to an old hotel, built in the 1910s. It was considered very fancy at the time. I suppose it will be demolished and also sure I would not be allowed inside for insurance reasons. I don't even ask, just do not want to deal with the town paranoia! I have to look in windows only. ;-(

Grazie, Bea!

You know why we often see former business building in ruin in the states Diane ? Laws allow it ?

Why? Because much of the rural and small town population has moved to larger cities. In the case of Klamath Falls, that is because of the decline of its main industry: logging. Regions that have only one industry fail when that industry fails. Another cause is the mega-store, Walmart. They have driven many small businesses to bankruptcy because the small business can not compete. Internet shopping is another big cause.

Yes, laws allow it as long as the property is maintained, but if the building is dangerous or damaged, the owner must demolish it. If the owner dies or simply disappears, the county or city must pay for demolition. This is why a lot of buildings aren't torn down - the small local government cannot spend that much money. (This is true in Klamath Falls!) The laws can be different from one state to the next.
