Dickey's

Dickey's
Little Grocery Store series.

Always very busy, in the middle of a crowded neighborhod and across from an elementary school.

I can well imagine it is very busy Diane. We weren't allowed to leave the premises without permission when I was at school....how times change :) Great shot!

They can't leave during school hours, only stop here before and after. No, we couldn't, either! In high school, now, most schools let kids leave campus for lunch if there's a place close enough.

That's interesting Diane! There is a Lidl store near my old school that does particularly well with the school kids.

I've seen Lidl signs in photos and it looked a bit bigger than a mini-store.

Lovely colourful series of images Diane. So nice to see stores open and doing business instead of being shut up and abandoned.

Great reportage!

Many thanks! I tend to show abandoned spaces a litttle more than occupied ones, I think. Life really does happen in this town, just not what I think of as multi-faceted.

Nice shot, I like it. YS.
But, despite all the above comments, the place looks deserted and the shop looks boarded-up!
Best wishes, Andy

Just looks strange that there's no window display! Perhaps that's only a European concept!

Yeah, this store is unusually closed-off from the street. However, it's not too unusual for a small food or drink related store to have no display, or even to have no view inside. (A clothing or gift store has display windows.) I imagine it's all about the floor space - the ability to stack up more goods in the interior. There is ONE window that is around the corner.
